Local actors in some 1000 cities and villages in France, the 14000 volunteers in charge with the Association, most of them between 17 to 25 years of age, will spend their time for the sole benefit of 6 to 21 year old girls ands boys.
Les Scouts et Guides de France number over 60 000 members.
Committed into the very heart of public life, siding with those who need most, the leaders of the Movement will set up links. That is why Les Scouts et Guides de France have been acknowledged as an officially approved organization.
A catholic movement of scouting, within a Church open to all, Les Scouts et Guides de France grant children and teenagers – without any particular mention of origin, culture or creed – the opportunity to grow up with others, based on such values as solidarity, sharing with and respecting others.

By helping children and teenagers how to live and succeed together, the young leaders find, in scouting, their opportunity to be in charge.
To supervise children and youths, to bring to an end an educational proposal, to master a budget... so many capacities can be acquired with Les Scouts et Guides de France, which will prove useful with their plans for the future, either in family or professional matters... Only scouting may offer such responsibilities so early in life.
Les Scouts et Guides de France are members of two world organizations : the World Organization of the Scout Movement, and the World Association of Girlguide Movement.
These two world organizations acknowledge four other movements inside the Federation du Scoutisme Français. All confessional or philosophical inclinations are represented here :
Les Scouts et Guides de France(SGDF) a Catholic movement of education ;
Les Eclaireuses Eclaireurs de France (EEF), a secular movement ;
Les Eclaireuses et Eclaireurs Israélites de France (EEIF), a Jewish movement of education ;
Les Eclaireuses et Eclaireurs Unionistes de France (EEUF), a movement based on christian principles from protestant origins ;
Les Scouts Musulmans de France (SMF), a Muslim movement of education.
